Armoury plates that know where your equipment came from.

You never pick an icon for a piece of equipment. You write down what it was made from — the ore, the hide, the salvaged blade it was reforged out of — and Provenance Atlas derives the plate: which of forty hand-authored silhouettes it takes, what material it is struck in, what the origin mark beneath it is painted in, how many ornaments it carries, how far along its upgrade line it sits, and how much of its set the player is currently holding.

Re-source that sword so it is forged from drowned coral instead of pit ore, and its plate changes. The silhouette shifts realm. The origin wash is repainted in the new material. The ancestry strip redraws. None of that is a re-import — it is a re-read of your data.

That is the thing a pack of five hundred hand-drawn icons cannot do at any price: the pictures in it do not know your item graph exists, so they can never show a player that this blade and that helm came out of the same mine.

What you get

  • Forty hand-authored motifs across eight origin realms — mined, grown, drowned, burnt, entombed, forged, aerial and blighted. Five silhouettes each, drawn in code, no atlas anywhere.
  • A derivation you can read. Every plate reports, in plain English, exactly why it looks the way it does — and you can override any part of it. A designer who typed a motif id onto an item has made a decision, and the generator does not overrule it.
  • An editor window to browse your catalogue and inspect any item’s derivation.
  • A demo scene with a worked forty-one item armoury — open it, press Play, page through the wall.
  • Full C# source, raw and readable. Three assemblies, all in named .asmdefs, no Resources/ folder, no network calls, and no third-party dependencies.

Compatibility

  • Unity 2022.3 LTS and newer. Built and gated against Unity 6 (6000.5.7f1).
  • Every render pipeline — Built-in, URP and HDRP. The art path is a CPU rasteriser writing to a Texture2D, so it does not care which pipeline you use.
  • Every target platform. The runtime assembly is platform-agnostic and takes no native dependency.
  • No dependencies at all — no uGUI requirement, no TextMeshPro, no Resources/, no network access at any point.

Documentation

The complete user guide is readable before you buy: Provenance Atlas documentation

From the same workshop

  • Synthesis Web — the same derivation idea applied to crafting recipes: marks computed from your recipe rows.
  • Constellation Atlas — generated star-chart skill trees.
  • Boughwright — skill-tree art your project draws itself.

AI disclosure

The source code and the store imagery were produced with AI assistance, declared truthfully. No image model touched this product at any point. Every plate in every screenshot is a headless Unity render of the software rasteriser that ships inside the package, from source in this repository. There is no diffusion model and no network call anywhere in the art path.
