Bridges, fords and stepping stones for a 16x16 map: 644 tiles in one 52-colour palette. Commercial use permitted in unlimited projects, no attribution required; you may not resell the tiles themselves as an asset pack.

Every bridge runs both ways

9 decks: rope bridge, plank walk, lumber bridge, lumber bridge with rails, stone arch bridge, carved stone bridge, fallen log, drawbridge and pontoon bridge. Each one comes west to east AND north to south, and the north to south pieces are drawn for the 3/4 view rather than turned on their side, so a bridge going up the screen shows its side beams and its end face on the south bank. Every deck comes 1 or 2 tiles wide, with a start, a middle that repeats as long as you like and an end, and every piece also comes broken (162 broken pieces), so a span can be washed out or snapped.

What is in it

  • 324 bridge pieces, drawn as overlays: wherever there is no deck the tile is transparent, so one piece sits on a river, a pool, a chasm or plain ground.
  • 38 support and shadow tiles for the cells beside a span: timber piles, stone piers, arches and pontoon floats, each drawn for the ground it stands in (land, river, pool, or falling into a chasm), and the deck's own shadow.
  • 282 tiles in 2 complete 47-mask sets, both animated: a ford, a gravel bar under moving water across a river, and stepping stones in a still pool, one big flat stone to a cell.
  • A finished 50x28 sample map, Every way across, as PNG and JSON: a river, a pool and a chasm, every style on it.

Made for the Verdant water you already have

The ford's water is Verdant 04 — Tidewater's river and the stones' water is Verdant 38 — Cascades's pool, frame for frame, so they sit in those packs' water with no seam. The chasm supports are drawn for Verdant 05 — Depths. The sample map's ground comes from those packs and from Verdant 01 — Overworld and Verdant 12 — Scarp; it is not in this download, and the map's JSON names every one of those tiles. The bridges themselves work on any ground.

Engines

  • RPG Maker MZ: the bridges and supports on the B, C, D object pages, to paint over A1 water as MZ draws a bridge. Both sets on an A2 page as MZ autotile brushes (96 of 96 shapes composed back with MZ's own autotile table) and the stones also on an animated A1 page (192 of 192). Tested against the table, not inside the MZ editor. Passability is yours to set in the Database.
  • Tiled: one .tsx per sheet, the set animations written in; Tiled 1.12.2's own renderer drew all 644 tiles identical to the sheets.
  • Godot 4: one TileSet, loaded and verified in Godot 4.7.2 (644 tiles built).
  • Unity: copy importers/Unity/VerdantSpansBridges/ into your project and run one menu command (Tools > CSAF Verdant > Verdant 61 Spans > Build Unity Assets). It builds 644 pixel exact sprites and Tiles and 2 animated RuleTile brushes. Tested in a blank Unity 6000.5.7f1 project: each RuleTile drew the right tile in all 256 neighbour arrangements (512 of 512). Brushes need the free 2D Tilemap Extras package.

The proofs

Every tile's wrap boundary is measured against its own interior, and every 4x4 repetition is rendered and reviewed. Grid, palette and autotile completeness are machine-proven: every tile is exactly 16x16, every pixel is inside the 52-colour palette, alpha is strictly on or off, and both sets carry all 47 masks in every frame. The middle of every deck, in every style, direction and width, was cut from a bridge drawn four tiles long and both middles came out identical, so a run of middles has no seam.

AI disclosure

Every tile is generated by our own procedural drawing engine, which is AI written software. No image model draws any tile, no scraped art and no training dataset were used, and nothing was traced. The cover illustration is made with an image model.
