Verdant 01 — Overworld Tileset [16x16]
A downloadable asset pack
A complete 16×16 overworld set — and the delivery is the point.
Five ground materials with four variants each, four complete 47-mask blob autotile sets, and seventeen props. 228 tiles, one 33-colour palette, one grid. Everything in the screenshots was built from this pack and nothing else.
What usually goes wrong with tile packs, and what we did about it
Nearly every complaint we could find on the best-selling tilesets here is about delivery rather than art — a PNG that is secretly a JPEG, a folder present at one grid size and missing at another, no licence in the zip, an autotile set with holes in it. So:
- All 47 masks are present in all four autotile sets — 188 transition tiles. They were enumerated from the 256 possible neighbourhoods rather than drawn from a list, so a missing transition is not a state this set can be in.
tiles.jsonmaps every mask number to its tile. - Every tile is documented.
tiles.jsongives each one an id, a role, whether it self-tiles, its sheet slot and its autotile mask. Nothing ships undocumented. - Machine-checked before release: every cell exactly 16×16 · every sheet an exact multiple · every opaque pixel inside the declared 33 colours · alpha strictly binary, so no halos or soft edges · every .png really is a PNG.
- Four variants of every ground fill, because one grass tile repeated across a screen reads as wallpaper however good the tile is.
On seams — what we will and will not claim
Every tile's wrap boundary is measured against its own interior, and every self-tiling tile has been rendered as a 4×4 repetition and reviewed by eye. Those renders ship inside the pack in proof/, so you can check us instead of trusting us. We do not claim “mechanically proven seamless” — no automated seam test we know of is good enough to earn that phrase, and we would rather give you a weaker claim that is true.
Drops into your engine
- RPG Maker MZ — a 768×768 B-sheet ready for
img/tilesets/. MZ uses 48px tiles and this pack is 16px, so every tile is upscaled exactly ×3 by pixel replication. No resampling, no blur. A slots map tells you where every tile landed. - Tiled — a
.tsxtileset with roles as tile properties. - Godot 4 — a
.tresTileSet resource. Honest note: written to spec but never opened in the Godot editor by us, so treat it as a convenience rather than a guarantee. - Anything else — individual PNGs plus
tiles.json.
What is NOT in this pack: elevation
No cliffs, no plateaus, no drops. This is a flat-terrain set, and we would rather you knew that now than after you bought it. We built a cliff set for this pack and cut it, because at this scale a convincing drop needs a second palette for the upper level — a pack-wide decision rather than a few tiles bolted on. Elevation is the headline of Verdant 02, in this same palette and grid.
Licence
Commercial use permitted, unlimited projects, no attribution required. You may not resell the tiles as an asset pack. Full terms in LICENSE.txt, inside the zip.
Made with AI, and tagged accordingly
Every tile here was produced programmatically by software we wrote — a hand-authored palette, hand-authored motifs, hand-authored material rules. No diffusion model, no third-party artwork. We would rather you judged it on proof/ and on the screenshots than on the tag.
The rest of the series
- Verdant 00 — Sample (free) — 120 tiles, no cost and no account. The honest way to check the grid, palette and autotile masks against your own engine before you spend anything.
- Verdant 02 — Elevation — 149 tiles. The cliffs this pack deliberately does not have: a 47-mask directional plateau step, a four-band cliff stack with cast shadows, and a second blob set for rocky shelves. All 228 tiles of this pack were verified byte-identical after 02 extended the palette.
- Verdant Forge — the generator. One HTML file: pick a palette, export a complete pack in it. For when your game’s colours are not ours.
Same 16px grid, same palette. They mix on one map without a visible join.
