Hearthhands Hallowtide: the Costumed Village — 200x200 & 100x100 Halloween villager sprites
A downloadable asset pack
The Hearthhands village on All Hallows' Eve. 10 villagers of the Hearthhands village in homemade costume: the scarecrow, the hedge witch, the sheet ghost, the pumpkin head, the bat cloak, the black cat, the lantern bearer, the harvest queen, the red devil and the painted skeleton. Every one of them has an idle, a 6-frame walk and a 6-frame costume move in all four directions, front, back and both profiles, so a festival crowd can walk your town square and act out its costumes.
It drops straight into Hearthhands 01, 02 and 03. Same 200 and 100 cells, same ground line (every foot on row 168 of the 200 cell, measured across all 39 villagers of the four packs), and the palette holds every one of the series' 43 colours unchanged, plus 53 more fitted to these costumes. The costumed crowd stands at the same scale as the working village.
The costume moves
- Scarecrow: throws both arms straight out like a scarecrow with a big laugh, straw dangling from the cuffs (south and north); tips his straw hat in profile (east and west).
- Hedge witch: lifts both hands with the fingers spread, as if casting a spell, and lowers them.
- Sheet ghost: raises both arms under the sheet so it spreads wide like wings, then lets it fall back.
- Pumpkin head: throws both hands up beside the pumpkin in a playful boo (front and back); brings both hands up to the pumpkin face in profile.
- Bat cloak: spreads both arms so the black cloak opens like bat wings, then folds them back.
- Black cat: curls both hands into paws at the chest and paws at the air.
- Lantern bearer: swings the turnip lantern up in front of him by its rope handle and lets it back down.
- Harvest queen: curtsies, bending her knees and holding the skirt out wide at both sides, then rises.
- Red devil: brings both fists up to his chest and laughs, then lets his arms hang again.
- Painted skeleton: drops into a bent-knee, arms-out dance and straightens again.
The consistency proof
The honest worry about generated art is that frame 40 will not match frame 1. This pack proves it against the decoded pixels of every file in the download:
- 1,180 files are real PNGs and all 1,180 decode
- 6,474,722 opaque pixels, every one inside the declared 96-colour palette
- 84,000,000 pixels carry strictly binary alpha, no anti-aliasing, no soft upscale
- 2,080 frames in the map, every one landing inside its sheet
- every asset present at one grid size is present at the other
What you get
- 520 frames at 200x200 (native) and 520 at 100x100 (an exact 2:1 reduction)
- 30 sheets per grid, one per character per state, plus every frame as its own PNG
frames.jsonwith every frame's sheet, x, y, w, h, andpack.jsonlisting which states each character has- RPG Maker MZ: 20
$-prefixed 3x4 walk sheets (both grids), drop intoimg/characters - Godot 4: a SpriteFrames
.tresper character per grid, every animation named and sliced, loaded and verified in Godot 4.7.2 before shipping
Honest notes
- The WEST idle is the generated EAST idle mirrored, pixel for pixel, for: lanternBearer.
- The EAST job is the generated WEST job mirrored, pixel for pixel, for: batCloak, pumpkinHead.
- The WEST job is the generated EAST job mirrored, pixel for pixel, for: lanternBearer.
- The EAST walk is the generated WEST walk mirrored, pixel for pixel, for: harvestQueen.
- The WEST walk is the generated EAST walk mirrored, pixel for pixel, for: lanternBearer.
- Every job cycle plays its motion out and back (up, then the same frames down again), so the loop closes exactly on the standing pose.
- The scarecrow's arms-out pose is a front and back pose: in profile he tips his hat instead, because the arms-out move turned him toward or away from the camera when it was generated from the side.
- Six cycles are an exact horizontal mirror of the opposite facing: the pumpkin head's east job, the bat's east job, the harvest queen's east walk, and the lantern bearer's whole west facing (idle, walk and job), so his lantern is always in the hand nearer the viewer.
- From behind, the painted skeleton shows only the painted pelvis at the seat; the bones are painted on the front of the costume.
- Seen from behind, the black cat's paw gesture brings her hands together behind her back.
- The harvest queen's dress shows a maroon underdress at the front slit as she walks, and a white petticoat when she lifts the skirt to curtsy.
- The scarecrow's straw-hat face was cleaned of two red paint streaks under the eyes before the side and back views were generated; the red devil and the painted skeleton laugh with an open mouth on a few walk frames.
