A downloadable asset pack

Everything in this pack is the same machine, in the same room.

The clock tick, the steam valve, the menu confirm and the flywheel loop are all struck from one set of hand-authored resonant bodies — brass bell, steel bar, iron plate, brass cog, spring coil, glass — and passed through one room. That is why they sit together without work from you, and it is the thing you cannot get by assembling free one-shots from four different sources.

109 sounds. Twelve slots. Nothing left for you to go and find elsewhere.

Escapement · Gears · Springs · Steam · Levers and switches · Latches, bolts and locks · Chimes and bells · Machinery (8 seamless loops) · Impacts · UI · Pneumatics · Failure

Built for steampunk, clockwork, industrial, factory, airship, submarine, laboratory, dieselpunk, Victorian and workshop settings — and for the mechanical layer of a fantasy dungeon: portcullises, winches, locks, traps.

Hear it before you buy it

There is a free demo on this page. It is 15 real files from the pack, spanning all twelve slots, unaltered and not degraded — no watermark, no length limit, no quality reduction. The sounds in the demo are yours to use commercially too, under the same terms as the full pack.

Play them one after another. They should sound like one machine. That is the whole claim, and the demo is deliberately drawn from every slot so you can test it instead of taking our word for it.

The licence, in one line

Use them in commercial projects, keep the money, no credit required.

  • Commercial use: yes, with no revenue limit and no second licence to buy later.
  • Unlimited projects, forever — the licence is per person or per studio, not per game.
  • Any platform: PC, console, mobile, web, VR. Also film, video, streams, podcasts and ads.
  • Client work is covered, and your client may ship the result.
  • Modify them however you like.
  • Credit is welcome and never required. A copy-paste credit line is in the download if you want one.

The only restriction: you may not resell the sounds as sounds — as a pack, sample library or stock-audio upload. That is the whole list.

Every sound was synthesised from scratch in code. No recorded samples, no stock-library material, no third-party sources — so there is no upstream licence behind this one, and no third party who could content-ID claim these against your project.

Drop-in, not a project

One level, already set. Every file is normalised to the same target. Measured spread across all 109: the inner 80% sits inside 0.35 dB. Set your SFX bus once and stop gain-riding individual files. Peaks are held at or below −1.5 dBFS, so several can fire in one frame without clipping your master. Every file starts and ends at zero — no click on trigger or release.

Nine variation sets, declared. Files ending _01, _02, _03 are alternates of the same event. Play one at random and a running clock, a swinging lever or a firing piston never repeats a sample. The manifest lists every set and its size, so you always know which files are alternates and which are distinct sounds.

nine seamless loops. Built by folding each loop's decay tail back onto its head rather than by crossfading, so the wrap is the same signal the loop produces on its second pass. WAV carries sample-accurate smpl loop points; OGG carries LOOPSTART / LOOPLENGTH for RPG Maker MV/MZ. Every loop runs the full file length, so any engine that just loops the whole file is already right.

Both formats, same filenames. WAV 44.1 kHz / 16-bit mono for Unity, Unreal, Godot and GameMaker; OGG for web and RPG Maker. Switch without renaming anything.

A full sound manifest ships in the download and every filename is on this page in the gallery — you know exactly what you are getting before you pay.

Per-engine import notes for Unity, Unreal, Godot, GameMaker, RPG Maker MV/MZ and web are in the Readme.

How they were made

Deterministic procedural synthesis in Node.js. A struck metal object is physically a set of resonant modes excited by a transient, so these are built from impulse-excited modal resonator banks — the partial-ratio tables for each material are the authored content of the pack. The exciters change (hard strike, soft strike, scrape, filtered air); the resonant bodies stay constant. That is what makes it cohere.

Pairs with Dwell

The machine hall in Dwell — Long-Form Place Beds is built from the same iron and the same room as this pack, on purpose. If you own both, the machine-room ambience and the machine-room sounds are the same building — twelve places in separable layers, alongside these 109 mechanisms.

An honest note

The pack ships with pack_proof.json: a machine-readable measurement of every file — peak, RMS, clipping count, spectral centroid, duration, edge continuity, and for loops the seam measured two independent ways. 889 checks, all passing.

Those are signal measurements. They prove there are no measurable defects. They cannot tell you the sounds are right for your game. That is what the free demo is for — download it first.

Also from this studio: Akatsuki — Anime / JRPG Sound Suite, 97 sounds across twelve slots built on the same synthesis core.

Expanded 2026-08-26

This pack grew from 84 sounds to 109. The 25 additions are slots the first release simply missed, not re-pitched copies of what was already here: a steam whistle, the pendulum swing and bob, a faltering beat, gear strip and gear train, mainspring wind, spring creep, detent click, condensing drips, lever ratchet, treadle, padlock and keyhole, a struck tubular chime, a governor spin loop, anvil and chain, dial and gauge ticks, bellows and a kinked airline, a boiler going overpressure and a bearing starting to squeal. If you already own it, the update is free.
