Three tropical biomes for your map: 633 tiles at 16x16 in one 89-colour palette: a rainforest floor under kapok giants, a grey mangrove flat with a winding creek, and a palm beach running down to a turquoise lagoon whose surf washes in and out. Commercial use permitted in unlimited projects, no attribution required; you may not resell the tiles themselves as an asset pack.

What is in it

  • Moving water: the lagoon's surf breaks white, runs back and leaves a wet line; the mangrove creek laps its bank. 2 animated transition sets (282 tiles, 3 key frames played 1, 2, 3, 2 at 400 ms a beat) plus every variant of both waters as an animated fill. The middle frame of each moving set is the static set, tile for tile, so you can paint the static one and swap the moving one in with no seam.
  • 25 objects: heliconia, ground orchid, tree fern, mangrove seedlings, stump with bracket fungus, bamboo raft, hammock between posts, fishing net drying, scatter of shells, fallen palm frond, kapok tree with buttress roots, stilt hut, coral rock, conch shell, termite mound, mangrove tree on stilt roots, leaning coconut palm, banana plant, monstera clump, bromeliad, pile of coconuts, driftwood, starfish, dugout canoe, mossy fallen log. Each ships transparent for your own ground and grounded on ours, with a contact shadow drawn from that ground's own colours.
  • 2 animated objects: a lit tiki torch and a patch of bubbling mud, 4 frames each at 160 ms.
  • 517 transition tiles in 7 complete 47-mask sets: the undergrowth thicket standing up off the forest floor, the jungle floor running onto the sand, the mangrove flat in the forest, the creek through the mud, and the lagoon on the beach.
  • 24 fill tiles: a leaf-litter rainforest floor, a dark thicket of broad fronds, grey mangrove mud with breathing roots, tea-dark creek water, cream coral sand and the turquoise lagoon, 4 variants each.
  • A finished 40x26 sample map, The Wild Coast, with 71 objects placed, as PNG, JSON and a Tiled .tmx.

Engines

  • Unity: copy importers/Unity/Verdant54Wilds/ into your project and run one menu command (Tools > CSAF Verdant > Verdant 54 Wilds > Build Unity Assets). It builds 633 pixel exact sprites and Tiles, 7 RuleTile brushes (the two water brushes animated), 12 AnimatedTiles and a scene holding the sample map. Tested in a blank Unity 6000.5.7f1 project: every RuleTile drew the right tile in all 256 neighbour arrangements (1,792 of 1,792), the animated brushes handed back every frame in order (512 of 512), and Unity's render of the scene matched the sample map pixel for pixel. Brushes need the free 2D Tilemap Extras package.
  • Tiled: one .tsx per sheet with every animation and its timing written in; Tiled 1.12.2's own renderer drew the sample map identical to ours (1,064,960 px, 0 differ), and, advanced to the middle of every beat, drew exactly our frames for the torch, the mud and both waters (31 checks, 2,134,016 px).
  • RPG Maker MZ: the moving water on the A1 page in MZ's own animated-water layout and order; every static set on the A2 page as MZ's own autotile brush, composed back out of the sheet with MZ's own autotile table (336 of 336 identical). Tested against the table, not inside the MZ editor. Objects on the B, C and D sheets; MZ does not animate object tiles, so the torch and mud frames are there as tiles.
  • Godot 4: one TileSet, loaded and verified in Godot 4.7.2 (633 tiles built). The TileSet carries no animation; the frames are there as tiles.

The proofs

Every tile's wrap boundary is measured against its own interior, and every 4x4 repetition is rendered and reviewed. Grid, palette and autotile completeness are machine-proven: every tile is exactly 16x16, every pixel is inside the 89-colour palette, alpha is strictly on or off, and all 7 sets carry all 47 masks, the moving ones in every frame.

More from the series

Verdant 04 — Tidewater is the temperate coast with its own moving sea, shoal and river, and Verdant 03 — Worlds is snow, desert and volcanic ground in the same palette.

AI disclosure

Every tile is generated by our own procedural drawing engine, which is AI written software. No image model draws any tile, no scraped art and no training dataset were used, and nothing was traced. The cover illustration is made with an image model.
