Forty-two tracks. One road. A complete fantasy score covering everything a game needs and then going deeper into the parts a game actually spends its minutes in, led by plucked strings and bamboo flutes rather than the lutes and massed choirs almost every other fantasy pack reaches for.

One theme runs through all of it. A cell called lantern opens the title track, and every other theme on the album is cut from it: jade narrows it so an overworld can repeat for twenty minutes without demanding resolution, blade opens it to a leap and becomes the battle music, mist slows it and refuses to resolve it for the caves, teahouse inverts it into a settling for the towns, rise removes its hesitation and becomes the victory fanfare. Measured, not asserted: the road theme is present in all forty-two tracks, 314 times, under seven distinct transforms. The report ships inside the pack.

Not one of each. Families.

Most packs give you a town. This gives you the lantern town, that same town after dark, a working harbour, a mountain village above the snow line, and a ruined ward where the town theme plays in phrygian and nobody is home. The same thinking runs through the whole sheet:

4 towns + a night variant  ·  5 field and travel pieces including a night variant and a world map  ·  4 battles - normal, elite, desperate, ambush  ·  3 bosses  ·  3 dungeons  ·  2 caves  ·  2 forests  ·  3 ambient beds - rain, snow, mist  ·  3 rest cues - two inns and a shop  ·  2 sacred places  ·  and a prologue, a character theme, a loss cue, an ending, and 5 stingers for victory, defeat, level up, treasure and the moment before a fight.

23 distinct slots across 42 tracks. That is the difference between an album you score a game with and an album you pick two tracks out of.

Why it sounds like this

Dorian is the home mode of the album. The caves take away its raised sixth, the three bosses hold the only raised sevenths on the record, and the two sacred places are the only lydian. 28 distinct keys across 42 tracks, and the modes do real work rather than decorating.

The ending is the argument in miniature. The title track is in D dorian and asks a question; the final boss is in D harmonic minor, the same tonic with the seventh raised, dragging the same cell toward a resolution; the ending is in D major. Play those three in order and you are hearing one idea open, turn and close.

An honest note on the style. This is modal writing with koto, shamisen, shakuhachi and panflute in the lineage of the JRPG scores that drew on folk material. It is not traditional East Asian music and I am not going to claim it is - it does not use pentatonic, hirajoshi or insen scales. What it does is lean on dorian and mixolydian and move mostly in thirds and steps while avoiding the leading tone, which is the approximation that tradition of game scoring actually used.

What you get

42 OGG files at 44.1 kHz, mastered, no clipping, headroom left for your own mix
42 MIDI sources - open them, re voice them, change the instrumentation, rearrange them
Sample accurate loop points on all 36 looping tracks, tagged LOOPSTART and LOOPLENGTH so RPG Maker MV and MZ read them straight in
Royalty free licence for commercial and non commercial games
65 minutes 25 seconds of music

The loops actually loop

Most packs are cut at a bar line, so even on a sample perfect loop point you hear the join, because the reverb tail of the last bar is simply gone. Each track here is rendered past its loop end and that decay is summed back over the head of the loop. The loop tags are then read back out of the shipped bytes and checked against the composed loop.

1238 checks, 0 failed

Every track was checked for key discipline, resolving harmony, voice leading, playable instrument ranges, melodic singability, a varying density curve and loop seam continuity. The audio was checked for silence, clipping, headroom and loudness. Both reports ship inside the pack.

What those numbers are not. They establish that the music is technically sound. They are not a claim about taste, and no automated check can be. Judge that part yourself from the free preview below - the title, the town theme and both bosses, four complete tracks with their MIDI sources, downloadable without paying. The title states the road theme plainly and the final boss is that same theme in the same tonic with the hesitation removed, so playing those two back to back is the fastest way to hear whether the coherence claim is real.

Compatibility

RPG Maker MV / MZ - drop the OGG files into audio/bgm and the loop tags are read automatically. GameMaker, Godot, Unity, Unreal - standard OGG Vorbis; loop points are also listed in album.json in samples. Any DAW - the MIDI files are General MIDI with one instrument per channel.

Pairs with Adversary - Battle & Boss Suite if you want the combat ladder gone deep, and with Aetherbound Vol. I for the European fantasy voice.
