Farmstead 03: Spring Young — 144x144 & 72x72 young farm animal sprites
A downloadable asset pack
The farmyard's young. A calf, foal, goat kid, lamb, piglet, gosling, duckling and a chick, each one the young of an animal the Farmstead series already ships. Every one stands and walks in all four directions: an idle plus a 6-frame walk that loops closed, at 144x144 and 72x72.
True scale beside the adults. Each young was sized against a Farmstead adult on the same 144 cell, so a calf walks at its mother's side in Farmstead 01's farmyard without any rescaling. Standing heights, measured off the shipped 144 frames of both packs:
- calf 71 px beside the dairy cow (Farmstead 01) 117 px: 0.61
- foal 88 px beside the donkey, the nearest equine (Farmstead 02) 88 px: 1.00
- goat kid 52 px beside the billy goat (Farmstead 01) 73 px: 0.71
- lamb 45 px beside the ewe (Farmstead 01) 62 px: 0.73
- piglet 49 px beside the sow (Farmstead 01) 66 px: 0.74
- gosling 35 px beside the gander (Farmstead 01) 67 px: 0.52
- duckling 32 px beside the drake (Farmstead 02) 48 px: 0.67
- chick 22 px beside the hen (Farmstead 02) 44 px: 0.50
No horse ships at this scale yet, so the foal is measured beside the donkey, the series' nearest equine.
It drops straight into Farmstead 01 and 02. Same 144 and 72 cells, same ground line, and the palette contains every Farmstead 01 colour unchanged, so the young and the adults share one farmyard without a colour clash.
The consistency proof
The honest worry about generated art is that frame 40 will not match frame 1. This pack proves it against the decoded pixels of every file in the download:
- 528 files are real PNGs and all 528 decode
- 1,105,001 opaque pixels, every one inside the declared 96-colour palette
- 19,906,560 pixels carry strictly binary alpha, no anti-aliasing, no soft upscale
- 896 frame-map checks: every one of the 224 frame entries is declared, lands inside its sheet and has a real file at both grids
- every asset present at one grid size is present at the other
What you get
- 224 frames at 144x144 (native) and 224 at 72x72 (an exact 2x2 reduction)
- 16 sheets per grid, one per character per state, plus every frame as its own PNG
frames.jsonwith every frame's sheet, x, y, w, h, andpack.jsonlisting which states each character has- RPG Maker MZ: 16
$-prefixed 3x4 walk sheets (both grids), drop intoimg/characters - Godot 4: a SpriteFrames
.tresper character per grid, every animation named and sliced, loaded and verified in Godot 4.7.2 before shipping
Honest notes
- Sized to read in a game, not newborn true size: the young are weaner-sized so a 72px sprite still reads as the animal. The table above is the exact relationship.
- Every idle and walk frame, all four directions, is its own generated art, except the west facing (idle and walk) of the kid, the piglet and the lamb, which is the east facing mirrored exactly: symmetrical animals, and the mirror is the true west view.
- Walking away, the small animals show more back than legs: the body hides the far feet.
- The chick is the smallest sprite: at 72x72 it is about 11 pixels tall, and in four of its six walking-toward-you frames the 2:1 reduction keeps only one of its eyes. The 144x144 master keeps both.
- The adults in the gallery are Farmstead 01 and 02, and the farmyard tiles are Verdant HD 02: all sold separately.
